Many school's are now looking into different based grading systems rather than the typical letter grading system. It seems to help the parents and their children understand what is being accomplished and what isn't being accomplished. Rather than using the typical letter grading system which only dictates how well you do within the class based on mastering the subject, the color grading system would allow a variety of skills being mastered and broken down in translation for the parents. Compared to the letter grading system, the color grading system provides a more straight-forward translation of what is being taught, finished, accomplished at school.This variation consists of 70 different skills which all dictate whether the student would be able to move on to the following grade not. The color green dictates the mastered skill, the color yellow dictates the student is on track, and the color red dictates that the student is just getting started or in need of grasping the material more. A study was shown by attempt the letter grading system and color grading during two marking periods, it is noted that the parents preferred the color grading system over the letter grading system. Even though the letter grading system had worked thoroughly throughout many generations of students, the color system would allow teachers to decipher weaknesses and strengths within each student. Thus, eventually the teachers would become even better teachers in a way they now know how to approach the students in a different manner of teaching.
