Paraphrasing LM

Schools are implementing a new form of report cards that enables parents to track their children's progress daily. The new system shows a student’s progress based on three different colours, red, yellow and green. The students are rated, over the course of the school year, on more than 70 different skills such as the ability to write persuasively, determine the main idea of a passage, or multiply fractions. Red shows that the student is struggling and not progressing with the content that they are learning. Yellow indicates that the student is on track; while green means that the student has mastered the skill. This new method is giving students the opportunity to master the skill at hand before moving on to a new one. Students now have the chance to get the best grade possible throughout their school year. Some argue that this new grading concept in unfair and giving students, that attend a school where this type of grading is implemented, an unfair advantage. The students have a better opportunity to show better grades, which can lead to better acceptance if a child was considering a higher form of education at the middle school or high school level.
