  • What solution can you propose to the societal problem you've been writing about? How will your solution address the primary cause of the crisis?

For the problem of animals in captivity, we are the only ones that are capable of fixing this problem. In order for these animals to stay as happy as possible, they need to be in a setting that is as close to their natural environments as possible. The change that needs to happen is to have more oppurtunities for humans to go out into the natural habitat's and see the animals. Of course it is not something that can happen over night, especially when the change happens to a company such as SeaWorld. Instead of having the animals caged up in tiny confinements, I believe that we should block off large areas of coves, or deep areas in the ocean that are close to shore where animals are still in their natural habitats but the animals are not forced to perform tricks. This way, we are still able to see the animals but they are still in their natural habitats and have little to no human contact. This solution helps the animals have larger environments and they still remain in their natural habitats, not artificially produced ones.

  • How is your solution particularly practical, logical, manageable, ethical, humane, or economical?

This solution is more practical, humane, manageable but it might not technically be economical. For the animals it is a more humane way for them to live and they no longer have to perform tricks for entertainment. On the economical side of things, companies are not going to want to fund this because there will be high expenses for upkeep.

  • What else has been tried or proposed? Why is your solution the solution your audience should embrace?

There have been instances where wild life conservation areas have been put into place. This is for animals that are no longer wanted to the corporations such as SeaWorld, or they have been put in danger by humans such as being held in a confinement that is unsuitable for animal life. the audience should embrace this solution because it keeps both the animals and people safe. The orcas, for instance, are not being kept together in tiny pools where the injure each other or injure their trainers by pulling them into the water. It also gives the audience a safe and a more well rounded experience. They get to experience the orcas interacting with other orcas naturally, which is something that doesn't happen with the orcas at SeaWorld because they are constantly under a fog of depression.
