Proposal Free Writes Livia

What solution can you propose to the societal problem you've been writing about? How will your solution address the primary cause of the crisis?
I suggest implementing rules to protect athletes from the different ways of being exploited. For example, an athlete should not be subject to sign the Student-Athlete Statement in order to participate in their desired sport because this contract basically hands over the rights of the athlete to the NCAA who are then able to exploit the athlete for profit of their own. Rules should be put in place to allow athletes to receive some sort of benefit from their hard work. I don't believe they should be given a stipend, but by putting rules in place that avoid the exploitation of athletes, there will be no need for additional benefits.

How is your solution particularly practical, logical, manageable, ethical, humane, or economical?
My solution gets rid of the exploitation of student-athletes but also avoids the idea of paying the athlete

What else has been tried or proposed? Why is your solution the solution your audience should embrace?
Northwestern University has recently been granted the right to form a union, which has caused much controversy because it isn't fair to anyone that one school does this but others don't. Many former college athletes have sued the NCAA for exploiting their image/name, which has helped bring this issue to surface in recent years. There is no clear-cut solution to this problem, but my solution may help the problem in continuing to be solved throughout the next few years. My solution does not involve any huge loss to the schools or the athletes.
