Second Debate Resolution For Teams 4 And 5

Resolution B (to be debated on March 26)

We still need public libraries.

The New York Times reports that, “many public libraries are seeing an opportunity to fill the void created by the loss of traditional bookstores.” This, however, comes at a time of shrinking tax revenues and budget cutbacks. With new media and information technology available to us, do we still need public libraries?

The resolution before you is that we do.

To Prepare

  • I expect 100% participation – you must all speak. How you divide the tasks are up to you as a group.
  • Look for the four strongest arguments for your position and then find your support. Back up your case, people.
  • Think about the strongest counter-arguments and prepare your defense.
